Join the Alexander Hamilton Society and the Yale Schmidt Program on AI for a moderated discussion on the Future of US-China Strategic Competition, featuring Peter Mattis, President of The Jamestown Foundation, and Professor Ted Wittenstein, Senior Lecturer in Global Affairs and Director of the Schmidt Program on AI.
Peter Mattis has an extensive background in US-China relations, having served as a Senior Fellow with the U.S. House Select Committee on Strategic Competition with the Chinese Communist Party and as the staff director of the Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC) from 2019 to 2021, where he contributed to significant human rights legislation. Previously, he worked as a counterintelligence analyst at the CIA, where he earned awards for leadership.
Mattis is a prolific writer and speaker on Chinese politics, foreign policy, intelligence, and internal security, with his work featured in major publications such as Foreign Affairs and The National Interest. He is the author of Analyzing the Chinese Military and co-author of Chinese Communist Espionage. Mattis holds degrees from the University of Washington and Georgetown University.
