Aden Knaap is a Chauncey Fellow at Yale University. 
 
Knaap is a historian and legal scholar. He is currently writing a book, Judging the World: International Courts and the Politics of Justice, under contract with Princeton University Press. In the past, he has published in the Journal of Global History, Law and History Review, and the European Journal of International Law, among others. 
 
Knaap received his PhD in history from Harvard University in 2023 and his law degree from the University of Sydney in 2016. He has been awarded fellowships or grants from the Mellon Foundation, the Social Science Research Council, and the American Historical Association. He previously served as executive director of the Toynbee Prize Foundation for global history. Before coming to Yale, Knaap was a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence.
