Aden Knaap is a historian and legal scholar. He is currently writing a book, under contract with Princeton University Press and based on his award-winning dissertation, titled Judging the World: International Courts and the Politics of Justice. In the past, he has published in the Journal of Global History, Law and History Review, and the European Journal of International Law, among others.
Knaap received his PhD in history from Harvard University in 2023 and his law degree from the University of Sydney in 2016. He has held fellowships in Cambridge (UK), Florence, and Frankfurt, and his research has been supported by the Social Science Research Council, the American Historical Association, and the American Society for Legal History, among others. He previously served as executive director of the Toynbee Prize Foundation for global history.
