Amaya Nyamweru (BK ‘26) is a political science major, concentrating in global conflict and human rights, and is on the pre-med track. Bringing these two fields together, she is deeply interested in health in post-conflict settings. The daughter of Kenyan immigrants, Amaya also hopes to greatly improve health infrastructure in the Global South.
Thus far, Amaya has pursued multi-country projects centered around comparative public health, as well as traditional and indigenous health. She will be studying abroad her junior year, going to Nepal, Jordan, and Chile to study human rights and India, South Africa, and Argentina to explore health and community. Amaya places a special emphasis on not only learning about the world but experiencing it and thus prioritizes gaining as much on-the-ground experience as possible.
Outside of these professional and intellectual passions, Amaya absolutely adores exploring new music/hobbies/films/restaurants/books/cultures/peoples (the list is endless), writing poetry, making songs, learning languages, and spending time with her loved ones.
