Arshia Haque is a first-year MPP student at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs. Earlier, she worked as a consultant for five years with the World Bank’s Development Economics and Poverty teams, contributing to a large-scale mixed-methods study on the aspirations and well-being of Rohingya refugees and host communities in Cox’s Bazar. Her work also spans climate adaptation across Nepal’s ecological zones and post-pandemic livelihood recovery across Bangladesh, India, and the Maldives.

Beyond multilateral settings, Arshia has led research on access to digital payments in Bangladesh and contributed to the development of impact financing tools for small enterprises. Witnessing the gaps in local crisis response firsthand, she also co-founded a youth-led platform during COVID-19, which now supports disaster response and climate resilience efforts in Bangladesh.

At Jackson, she hopes to explore inclusive finance, well-being, and new approaches to development that expand access to livelihoods and opportunity. She holds a master’s in economics from East West University and a BBA from the University of Dhaka.
