Bernard Birikorang is a joint Master in Public Policy (MPP) candidate at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs and a Master of Environmental Management (MEM) candidate at the Yale School of the Environment (Three Cairns Group Scholar). His interests lie in the intersection of international climate governance, climate communication, and behavioral science in climate adaptation. At Yale, Bernard aims to explore how climate communication and behavioral solutions can inform policy frameworks, driving broader scalability and the dynamics of human behavioral adaptation and decision-making in response to environmental change.
Before pursuing his graduate studies, Bernard co-founded and served as CEO of EcoClimate Vision, an international NGO dedicated to enhancing climate resilience in underserved communities across 50+ countries in the Global South. Under his leadership, EcoClimate Vision bridged global climate knowledge with local realities, engaging marginalized communities through translated climate change information, grassroots climate education ("climategelism"), policy advocacy, and impactful climate resilience projects.
Bernard's experience also includes serving as president of Enactus UMaT, where he led community-based projects addressing environmental challenges and improving livelihoods. Notably, his initiatives saved lives from indoor air pollution, reduced carbon emissions, and empowered thousands through safer cooking alternatives and innovative eco-gel solutions.
A Global Climate Champion, Bernard is committed to changing the phase of climate action. Born in Effiakuma, Ghana, he holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental and safety engineering from the University of Mines and Technology. After Yale, Bernard is poised to drive meaningful climate impact, leveraging his expertise to involve everyone in the climate fight and shape human interactions in response to environmental changes.
