Chriss Tuyishime (BK ‘24, he/him) is a rising junior from Rwanda studying Ethics, Politics, and Economics. After living all his formative years in Rwanda’s capital, Kigali, he came to school in the US thinking that everything would be better. However, he soon realized that some struggles are universal. Access to equitable and quality healthcare is one of those struggles. Throughout his time at Yale, he hopes to combine his major, the Global Health Program, and Yale’s overall prestige to contribute to the growing fight for better lives – healthwise and beyond. Borrowing the words of WWII medic Desmond Doss (as played by Andrew Garfield in Hacksaw Ridge), Chriss hopes to help stitch together a world that is so set on tearing itself apart.
