Cristina Serrano Sánchez is a Spanish public policy manager with an engineering background. She earned a bachelor’s degrees in engineering from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Spain, and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, majoring in energy. She also completed a master’s in industrial engineering in Madrid, focusing on renewable and accessible energy systems.
After graduating, Cristina worked in the private sector for several years, managing projects in various engineering fields such as telecommunications, energy, clean vehicles, and electricity. She also participated as a researcher in Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi, Ecuador, on a local project involving a solar-powered greenhouse with a positive impact on the local community. Four years ago, Cristina successfully passed the national competitive exams to join the Spanish Government Engineering Corps. Since then, she has been working at the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism, where she has managed national industrial public programs.
Prior to starting studies at Yale University, Cristina was responsible for programs and policies in the microelectronics and communications technologies sector within the Directorate General for Industrial Programs. She also served as a member of the Spanish representation to the European Commission in technical committees focused on the development of joint projects among member states to boost strategic sectors such as clean technologies and microelectronics.
At Jackson, Cristina hopes to strengthen her expertise on public policy to better support her duties in drawing solutions to the most effective and fair investment of public resources.
