Ella Tyler is an MPP candidate at the Jackson School of Global Affairs focused on addressing the interconnected challenges of health, climate, and energy.
Before attending Yale, Ella was awarded a Fulbright grant to conduct research on the use and reliability of electricity and renewable energy technologies in rural health clinics in Eswatini. She also spent a year working in Sierra Leone where she contributed to multiple research projects, including the impact evaluation of a national solar mini-grid electrification project. While in Sierra Leone, Ella co-authored a paper on a randomized controlled trial of strategies to increase COVID-19 vaccine uptake in remote communities.
Ella earned a bachelor’s degree in data science and public health from the University of California, Berkeley. During her undergraduate studies, Ella worked extensively on research to understand energy use, energy burden, and potential sustainable solutions in historically underserved areas of California. She also utilized her skills in data science during internships for two energy technology companies. At the Jackson School, Ella aims to enrich her perspective on the nuances of these issues, enhance her analytical and quantitative skills, and deepen her policy knowledge.
