Evan Burkeen is a junior at Yale University from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, majoring in political science. His work centers on democratic design: how to construct institutions that remain responsive to popular will without collapsing into demagoguery. He is equally interested in the feedback loop between domestic political dysfunction and American credibility abroad — particularly how the populist turn in U.S. politics has reshaped foreign policy. He has worked on a congressional campaign in Iowa and with the City of New Haven on economic development. A member of the Yale Debate Association, he coached high school debaters through the New Haven Urban Debate League and directed their summer camp. Last summer, he interned at Boston Consulting Group, and he plans to return to the firm's public sector practice next summer. In his free time, he watches the NBA and enjoys cycling on the Farmington Canal Trail.
