Galen Jones is a joint master’s degree student in public health and business administration, focusing on healthcare and protection in conflict settings. Prior to Yale, he served as a Special Forces Medical Sergeant in the U.S. Army, primarily working in the Baltics. After leaving the military, Galen worked with an NGO in Ukraine, where he trained medical personnel at the outset of the current conflict. He spent his most recent summer with the World Health Organization’s Emergency Programme in Cairo, Egypt, assisting with the Sudan response. A recipient of the Pat Tillman Scholarship, Galen continues his commitment to service as an active Tillman Scholar. Galen plans to leverage his academic and ground experiences to mitigate the impact of conflict on healthcare.
