Hameeda Uloomi is a transfer student at Yale University from a community college in Los Angeles. As a refugee from Afghanistan, she has developed a deep passion for women's and refugee rights. Her goal is to advocate for meaningful changes for women and displaced individuals and, above all, she is committed to addressing the root causes of displacement to prevent others from enduring its hardships. Hameeda works with IvyCampsUSA, teaching unconventional educational materials around the world, particularly in the Middle East. She also founded HerKitaab, an organization dedicated to uplifting women in conflict countries and those living in exile. On campus, she is involved with Yale Amnesty International, the Yale Policy Institute, and the Yale Entrepreneurial Society. She also co-founded the Yale Afghan Student Association. Upon graduation, she hopes to attend law school or pursue social entrepreneurship.
