Jae D’Alessandro is a junior in Yale College double-majoring in history and global affairs, with a certificate in advanced Italian language studies. An Italian-American dual citizen born and raised in Cranston, Rhode Island, Jae’s upbringing and Italian heritage have shaped his interest in international climate law as a vital pathway toward a sustainable future. With family members who work in Southern Italian agriculture, he has witnessed how rising temperatures have led to recurring droughts and disrupted livelihoods. In his studies at Yale, Jae seeks to understand how to align climate goals with national interests and to develop strategies to combat the environmental stress that continually perpetuates intergenerational inequity. To complement his classroom work, Jae has worked with the Project on Predatory Student Lending (PPSL) and served as a research assistant for Yale Law School professor Douglas Kysar. Through this work, Jae developed an understanding of consumer protection law and examined its application to climate-washing litigation, both as a means of addressing localized harms to communities and as a framework for climate justice agendas. Outside the classroom, Jae is involved with the Yale Undergraduate Legal Aid Association, the Yale Historical Review, and the Yale men’s club soccer team.
