Kate Baldwin is an associate professor of political science and global affairs and a faculty fellow at the Institution for Social and Policy Studies. She is the author of the book, “The Paradox of Traditional Chiefs in Democratic Africa” (New York: Cambridge University Press, 2016).
Her current research projects analyze politics in weak states, examining how non-state actors – such as traditional leaders, churches and NGOs – interact with the national state to affect development and democracy.
