Lily Ates (PC’25) is an economics and history of science, medicine and public health double major from Timonium, Maryland. Having grown up outside Baltimore, where a difference of as little as four miles creates a nearly 20-year gap in life expectancy, her interest in global health lies in addressing social determinants of health at their root and combating healthcare inequity through policy and reform. She has worked at the Johns Hopkins Center for Law and the Public’s Health, Alliance for Health Policy, and as a research assistant for the Yale Medicaid Policy Research Lab. On campus, Lily volunteers with HAVEN Free Clinic, serves as a First-Year Outdoor Orientation Trip (FOOT) leader, is part of Dwight Hall Socially Responsible Investment Fund, and races with the Yale Club Alpine Ski Team. In her free time, Lily enjoys baking, reading, and singing very off-key.
