Makayla White (GH ‘26) is a history of science and medicine and public health major from Cleveland, Ohio. With a passion for understanding the intricate web of global health issues, Makayla is not only dedicated to understanding health concerns in the U.S. but also motivated to contribute to positive change and make a tangible impact on vulnerable populations around the world. Makayla is particularly interested in exploring innovative solutions to address infectious diseases, health emergencies, and understanding the social determinants of health and its profound impact on healthcare disparities in communities. This commitment extends beyond the classroom, as she is also a part of the Black Pre-Health Club at Yale, engaging with her peers in discussions about healthcare disparities worldwide. In the Global Health Scholars program, she envisions a collaborative space where she can engage with like-minded individuals, absorb diverse perspectives, and actively participate in the development and implementation of impactful public and global health interventions. Outside of Makayla’s academic pursuits at Yale, she also runs for the women’s track and field team as a top-10 sprinter in their program's history.
