Michael Henry is a joint MPP/MBA degree candidate at the Jackson School of Global Affairs and the Yale School of Management, focused on international development. He studies methods to finance, lead, innovate, and measure effective social and environmental impact at a global scale.
Before Yale, Michael spent seven years living in Africa and Asia driving evidence-based decisions in international development. Most recently, he held director positions at the Kenyan non-profits Shamiri Institute and SHOFCO, leading teams building data systems to measure and improve impacts across diverse programs in employment, education, microfinance, health, water, and gender. Prior to this, Michael worked with IDinsight in India, Senegal and Zambia, delivering social impact data consulting projects to government, foundation, and non-profit clients. He has travelled independently to remote locations, including in the DRC and Tajikistan, and published his writing in print and digital outlets in five countries.
Raised in Massachusetts, Michael holds dual bachelor’s degrees in economics and environment, with high distinction, from the University of Michigan. There, he was a Stamps Leadership Scholar and won team and individual national championships as captain of the boxing team.
