Qinyi Wang is a junior at Yale College majoring in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology with a certificate in global health studies. Born and raised in Nanjing, China, she was introduced to health security through firsthand exposure to intensive state-led crisis response during the COVID-19 pandemic, which shaped her interest in how global health and security institutions can prepare for future health emergencies. She has explored this question across multilateral, philanthropic, and humanitarian settings, including work with the World Health Organization. Her approach brings together perspectives from governance and political institutions with scientific, evidence-based thinking about public health. A scientist by training, Qinyi conducts research on healthcare in conflicts at the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab, and on climate-sensitive infectious diseases at the Yale School of Public Health. She leads Universities Allied for Essential Medicines at Yale and works as a part-time photographer for her residential college, Trumbull. Outside of her academic work, Qinyi is passionate about rock music, traveling, and the football club Arsenal.
