Rasik Winfield graduated summa cum laude from the College of William & Mary with a B.A. in philosophy. After graduating, he spent two and a half years in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh (UP), India’s most populous state. There he interned with a local grassroots NGO, Sadbhavana Trust, helping document the organization’s efforts to provide pro bono legal support to incarcerated women. He went on to work with the Lucknow office of Global Health Strategies, supporting a project to build the capacity of decision makers across multiple sectors of society to advocate for maternal, child and adolescent health in rural UP. In 2018, he returned to his hometown, Athens, Georgia, to help run the campaign of a progressive candidate for Congress running on a bold social and economic rights platform. Rasik has since returned to Lucknow where is currently working with a local activist to establish a first-of-its-kind space in the city dedicated to cultural preservation and freedom of expression.
