Samantha Liu (GH ’26) is an English and molecular, cellular, and developmental biology major from New Jersey. Her interest in global health stemmed from her time reporting on Yale-New Haven Health system at the Yale Daily News, where she covered local communities forgotten or failed by the medical system. Through journalism, she is committed to bridging science with equitable, impactful, and human-driven storytelling.
Fascinated by the social structures of health, Samantha is a social work assistant at the Connecticut Hospice and volunteers as a medical debt and insurance counselor at HAVEN Free Clinic. She also conducts translational research at the Yale Cancer Center, where she studies novel therapeutics to target DNA repair vulnerabilities. An aspiring physician and writer, she also edits for the award-winning New Journal, manages community projects for Yale Scientific Magazine, and co-chairs the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee at Yale Daily News. In her free time, she browses Grey Matter Books and flips quesadillas at the Hopper buttery.
