Shreya Bajaj is an MPP student at the Jackson School of Global Affairs focused on evolving macroeconomic issues, international fiscal and monetary policy coordination and its implications for developing economies. At Jackson, she aims to gain further expertise on the issues of international policy coordination, geoeconomics, and fiscal sustainability, drawing solutions from an intermix of economic, political, and social aspects and hoping to contribute to effective policy formulation.

Prior to attending Yale, Shreya served as a civil servant in the Ministry of Finance of the government of India for more than six years, where she got the opportunity to work extensively on various domains including inbuilt sensitivities in the global financial system, monetary and fiscal policy interlinkages, fiscal sustainability and debt distress. As a core member of India’s Chief Economic Adviser’s team, she also made substantial contributions in drafting various government schemes, assessing effectiveness, and presenting evidence-based policy recommendations. Shreya has also represented India at various platforms, including OECD and UNESCAP, and frequently interacted with various international organizations and sovereign rating agencies, presenting India’s policy stance and economic outlook.

Shreya earned her master’s degree in economics from Delhi School of Economics, India. During her studies, she interned with the Reserve Bank of India, assisting in designing India’s payment and settlement systems.
