Sofia Manriquez (Morse College ‘25) is pursuing a bachelor of science in environmental studies with a concentration in human health and the environment, as well as certificates in global health studies and energy studies. Sofia is from San Diego, California, where she gained a deep appreciation for the outdoors and especially the ocean. Previously a lifeguard at Silver Strand State Beach, she is now researching the potential human health implications from the worsening Tijuana River contamination crisis that has led to many beach closures in southern San Diego; her focus will be on a chemical analysis of water and air samples. Sofia has interned as an environmental health and safety intern for semiconductor leader ASML, as well as most recently as an ESG and sustainability analyst for Deloitte. Upon graduation, Sofia hopes to continue working in corporate sustainability initiatives with a focus on the energy transition and equitable paths to net-zero. On campus, Sofia has worked as a communication and consent educator since her first year. She is also part of the Yale Undergraduate Consulting Group, plays on the club women’s water polo team, and is co-president and co-founder of Aeris, a Yale women-led social group.
