Health & Safety Measures

The university is limiting the size of gatherings both indoors and outside to accommodate physical distancing and to conform to density guidelines and state rules. Jackson will strictly adhere to all of the university’s health and safety protocols for gatherings.

All graduating students – including remote and non-resident students – must register and comply with travel, testing and quarantine requirements in order to participate in Commencement on May 24. Pandemic health and safety protocols will all be in place, including social distancing and mask-wearing. Masks are required of all attendees.

To register for our celebration:

Complete the University’s Commencement 2021 registration form as soon as possible. This will be used to track your eligibility to attend.

COVID-19 testing requirements as announced by Dr. Stephanie Spangler:

  • Graduating students in residence with routine COVID-19 testing requirements must adhere to these requirements until commencement.
  • Graduating students without routine testing requirements must obtain a negative COVID-19 viral test during the seven days prior to commencement; students should obtain this test through the Yale COVID-19 screening program.
  • Students traveling from out of state or internationally to attend graduation must adhere to the testing and quarantine policy if not vaccinated; if fully vaccinated, quarantine is not required but testing as described above is still required.
  • All attendees must complete a daily health check before arriving for a ceremony.

Caps and Gowns

Students can access online ordering here.

Caps and gowns must be ordered by April 13 at 11:59 p.m. and will be available to be picked up on campus in May. There is also an option to have your cap and gown shipped to your preferred address.

In-residence graduates will be able to pick up their caps and gowns at an on-campus location to be confirmed. Notification and pick-up details will be provided in May. Yale will also make pick-up or delivery arrangements for students who do not currently have access to campus, including non-resident returning students completing their testing and quarantine requirements. Yale will ship caps and gowns to students who choose that option, at their expense. Students choosing the shipping option should provide the address at which they will be located during the expected delivery window of May 17-20.

Deadline: Orders are due no later than April 13 at 11:59pm.
