How to Apply — Global Health Scholars

Changes for 2020-2021

In response to Yale University plans for the fall term and substantial student interest in the Global Health Studies Multidisciplinary Academic Program (GHS MAP), we are adjusting our application cycle to accommodate sophomores enrolled for the fall term and sophomores who choose to take a leave of absence. Read the policy

Application Process

Each year, the GHS MAP admits a cohort of Global Health Scholars who fulfill the program requirements and are awarded an official designation on their transcripts upon successful completion of the program. However, all students with an interest in global health, including those not formally admitted into the MAP as a Global Health Scholar, have the ability and are encouraged to pursue coursework and activities in global health studies.

Students typically apply to be a Global Health Scholar in the fall of their sophomore year. On occasion, juniors with compelling interest in the GHS MAP may be considered for admittance into the program.

Students of all majors and interests are encouraged to apply; no former global health experience or coursework is required. We are interested in learning about why you are interested in global health, and what led you to apply to this program.

Applications were due November 30, 2020 for all sophomores enrolled in the fall 2020 term. Applications are currently open until February 3, 2021 only for currently enrolled sophomores who took a one-semester leave of absence during the fall 2020 term.
